  Heaps Peak "Drop and Shop" adjacent to the Dump Transfer Station at Heaps Peak is a treasure mine of items that people have discarded, but can be reused by people with a little ingenuity. Repurpose. Restore. Reuse. A chance to not add to the landfill & give old treasures a new life. Just picked up a sofa bed with a Serta Mattress for a new rental--it needed some hand sewing for buttons on backing, some casters for its legs and an upholstery cleaning/vacuuming for the final touch. We got it for $20. So if you have more skill and elbow grease than money, this is your place. It is also fantastic for finding a matching glass coffee pots to replace the one your son accidentally smashed on the tile counter, or the glass window that broke when your kids were playing Frisbee in their bedroom. I picked up a Living Room bamboo matching set--sideboard, entertainment system, side tables, framed mirror and a coffee table (needs some touch up on some scratches, and one drawer was stuck, but I discovered that trading it for the drawer above fit perfectly)--all for $55. It is open warehouse, dusty and not perfect, so bring your work gloves, a measuring tape and your imagination. But it is a great place to discover.
